Bhutan – Trek to Laya - October 23 to 31, 2002

In Laya, we saw this rock directing us to the Eco-Pond project at the local school.

And this is the project – grasses, pond wildlife and species typical of a vernal pool were what they were studying.

L Lunch was pretty cold a couple of days – temperatures were cold enough to snow several times.

Laya was quite a town – a long way from the road, but very prosperous and very proud of their way of life. We saw many, many solar panels going up the trail on horseback, alone with the battery packs to provide rural electrification in this area – It will change life quite a bit for the people in this rural border community.
